Note: Snow Leopard installer DVD should be used to create a Bootable USB flash drive for installation on a bare metal or USB hard drive only, not an existing OS X installation. Any OS X installation created by use of the installer DVD will not be bootable unless it is installed to a previously formatted volume, e.g., either an external hard drive or USB flash drive. Snow Leopard DVD can also be used to create bootable volume that can later be reformatted using Mac OS X 10.6 Installer Disc Creator utility for creating installable .dmg disk image format, then copied to any empty FireWire-formatted volume (thumbdrive, etc.).
